350 Christmas Food Boxes Shared

img_1704The spirit of Christmas was shared by a generous community this year.  On December 21st numerous volunteers came together to distribute 310 food boxes at the Eastern Idaho State Fairgrounds with another 40 boxes provided to families at the Blackfoot Food Pantry.  Months of hard work and preparations had gone into making this year another success.  We were blessed with donations from the Blackfoot 6th grade, Idaho Science and Technology Charter School, Rockford Elementary, and many businesses in our community, and even from Utah.  And this does not include the countless hours put in by CDT leaders and volunteers leading up to the 21st.

A special highlight was having the kids from the Blackfoot 6th grade come to present the turkeys and money that they had raised.  They worked hard and were able to donate 130 turkeys; but that wasn’t all, they had enough left over to present a check to CDT for $4,900.  This money will continue to help feed the hungry long after the holidays have passed.

We live in an amazing community where so many give so freely of their time and means for those in need.  It is a blessing to see the Lord’s hand in this great work.
