Blackfoot Community GardenIMG_6777

The garden was developed to cultivate individual growth and self-sufficiency through community gardening and gardening education.

It is located just north of Veterans (Airport) Park at the intersection of East Airport Road and Teeples Drive.

A Members Handbook explains more about the garden and discusses the rules, guidelines and expectations associated with using the garden.  The following are some highlights from the handbook:

  • All Gardeners must fill out an application and agree to abide by the rules of the handbook.
  • A membership fee must be paid; however grants may be available if there is a need.
  • Plots include 4′ x 12′ raised beds and 8′ x 12′, 12′ x 20′, and 20′ x 20′ ground plots.
  • You must maintain the entire plot and be responsible for items associated with it.
  • You must attend at least one pre-season work day and give service during the season.
  • All plots must be prepared for planting no later than May 27, 2017.
  • You must be willing to clean up and prepare the plot for winter when the growing season is over.

There is a Blackfoot Sprouts Junior Gardener Program available for kids ages 6-12.

You are encouraged to also take advantage of expertise provided by Master Gardeners in the community.  This is available for the community regardless of your involvement in the Community Garden.
