2022 Tater Trot Nets $7,000 for Christmas Box Project and Scholarships!

This year the CDT partnered with the Blackfoot Rotary Club to improve and grow the annual Tater Trot Fun Run. This decision paid off in a big way, the event more than doubled its fundraising goal from last year. We would like to thank our running community, our volunteers, and our corporate sponsors for this year’s Tater Trot. We had 103 runners registered for this year’s event. The weather was perfect this year and all who attended enjoyed the morning. The hot baked potato and a chance to win one of the many nice raffle prizes was a true to hit for the participants.

The event netted a $7,000 donation to the CDT for the Christmas box project and the Rotary Scholarship program. The food boxes provide a full Christmas dinner to families in Bingham County. Scholarships are given to deserving high school students in Bingham County that need a little extra help in obtaining their education. For information on this project, please contact the Blackfoot Community Food Pantry (communitydinnertable.org) or the Blackfoot Rotary Club. Below is a list of our corporate supporters who helped make this year’s event a success:

The Rotary Club of Blackfoot is part of Rotary International, one of over 46,000 clubs worldwide.  Globally, Rotary has been and continues to be involved with literacy project, peace, health, hunger, and water issues.  The Rotary Club of Blackfoot was established in 1919, the club has been involved in many local projects such as the flagpole installation located by Ridley’s, the mascot statues in front of Blackfoot High and Snake River High Schools, planting trees, and providing scholarships to graduating seniors.

In 1985, Rotary launched its PolioPlus program, the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication through the mass vaccination of children.  Rotary has contributed more than $2 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 3 billion children in 122 countries.

By partnering with the CDT to sponsor the Tater Trot, the Rotary Club will be able to give back more to the community this year. The Rotary Club of Blackfoot is grateful to all that supported this fundraising effort and look forward to next year!

Mark your calendars for October 14th, for the 2023 Blackfoot Tater Trot.
