Blackfoot 6th Grade “Coins for Turkeys” Fundraiser
For 29 years the Blackfoot Sixth Grade Heritage School has been raising funds to purchase turkeys and other supplies to be given to needy families in our community at Christmas. This year was another fantastic year with a total of $19,111.13 raised by the school. This allowed the kids to purchase 151 turkeys and still have over $15,000 to donate to help purchase other items for the food boxes.
These funds were raised through fun and engaging competition between the classes, with daily published totals and bragging rights for the day. Donations came from lunch money, pocket change and generous donations from local businesses, including Nonpareil Idaho Potato Packers, Les Schwab Tire, Bingham Memorial Hospital, Idaho Central Credit Union and many more.
Principal Colin Folsom credits the combination of teachers, students and generous community and business leaders for their phenomenal support.
