Blackfoot Elks Lodge makes Donation

The  Blackfoot Elks Lodge (#1416) has been hosting dinners at the Community Dinner Table for over 6 years and this year was no exception.  They provided a great meal for 174 guests on the evening of March 26th, but this was a special occasion.  On this night the Elks presented CDT leadership with a check for $6,500!  This money will be used to not only continue support for the weekly dinners, but also to provide nutritious fruits, vegetables and other products that are given out at the Community Food Pantry each week.  Without these generous gifts CDT would not be able to help feed the hungry and food insecure in Blackfoot and Bingham County.

Scott Hall, the Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 1416, Mike Marvin, State President of Elks and Travis Packer, Dinner Coordinator, all joined in on making the impressive presentation.  This grant came from the Community Investments Program of the national organization and was made possible because of the effort of local members meeting certain obligations and requirements necessary for the grant application.

The timing of the donation could not be better as the Hall Foundation, as part of the Challenge Hunger Program, has agreed to match this donation dollar for dollar, allowing the Elks and the Hall Foundation to effectively double this amount to $13,000!

We are grateful for all that the Elks have done in the past and are especially grateful for this added bonus of funds allowing us all to continue serving the community!  In the photo, directly to the left of Jackie Young, CDT President, is Travis Packer, then Mike Marvin, and then, Scott Hall.
