Throughout the year there are many activities that support CDT and the community it serves. Some of these are sponsored by CDT itself, many others are sponsored by our friends in the community. Here is a listing of some of those events:
March 1 to 20 – Challenge Hunger – a fund raising partnership between Bingham Ag Services and CDT that provides much needed resources for the food pantry.
April – Church Cleanup – each year the Jason Lee Memorial Methodist Church is given a full cleanup following the dinner season. All are invited to help.
April – Food Feud – a contest between Snake River Jr. High and Mountain View Middle School to see who can collect the most food for the pantry. The winners receive not only bragging rights and the traveling trophy for the year, but also a $1,000 donation for their school from the Rotary Club.
July – BBQ Picnic – The second Tuesday of July boasts our yearly community BBQ Picnic – held at Courthouse Square. It is a fun evening of food, music and fellowship.
September – Day of the Corn – A fun day preparing the approximately 5,000 ears of corn that is generously donated by Grove City Gardens annually. Volunteers prepare the corn for the freezer – to be used later at the CDT Community Dinners.
October – Tater Trot – A fun run/walk to raise funds for the Christmas Food Boxes. Check here for registration & information: CDT Annual Fun Run
October – Boy Scout Food Drive – The annual food donations you give to this food drive when the Scouts knock on your door, have served an important place in helping us feed the hungry in our community.
November – Thanksgiving Dinner – This special community meal is hosted on Thanksgiving day at the Methodist Community Church. Anyone is welcome to share in the food and fellowship at this special holiday meal and reflect on their blessings.
December – Twelve Days of Giving – an event where the community can “adopt” a food box to help provide for their neighbors in need at Christmas.
December – Christmas Food Boxes – an event where many community volunteers come together to help ensure that all in our community have food to eat each Christmas season.
