5th Tommy Vaughn’s Marathon and More
The fifth annual Tommy Vaughn’s Marathon and More was held on Saturday, May 21st against the backdrop of a wet spring morning. Hardy runners were able to participate in a full marathon, half-marathon, 10K, 5K or kids fun run. They all seemed to enjoy the chance to be part of this community event, in spite of the on-again and off-again rain showers.
In addition to providing an accredited marathon for runners, the marathon is also a regular contributor to the Community Dinner Table. This year a check for $3,000 was presented by Jon Lyksett and Kevin Rupe to CDT.
The brainchild of Jon, the race has been associated with CDT since it’s beginning, when Jon was a CDT board member. Due to health issues this was the last race that will led by Jon and his wife Marlene. The Tator Trot, held in November, is however, expected to continue as planned. A big thanks goes to Jon, Kevin and the army of volunteers and others that made this a success over the past 5 years. We wish Jon the best as he faces this new health challenge.
